"Beyond" Finalist National Capital Art Prize 2021 Honorable Mention- Victorian Artist Society Select Spring 2022 It is over 125 and 50 years; respectively since the classic landscapes of “Bailed up” and “My garden” were painted by Tom Roberts and Fred Williams. Angeline Bartholomeusz takes her inspiration from both masters in her interpretation. Her textured layers and color provide strength to the bold lines. It is through these layers that we climb upwards. Angeline is updating the scene to reflect the changes in the Australian landscape and to capture a sense of place, time, and the change in our awareness of environmental issues.
"Endangered V" Finalist Ravenswood Women Art Prize 2019. The Endangered series focused initially on Milk Bars as a representation of the 1950s to 1970’s sense of community. They were usually run by families that were “having a go”. The owners knew you and your family. They plied special treats and the rare school-bought lunches. I included familiar advertising in the shop window of products I bought growing up. Today they are being replaced by Cafes where you are a name on a coffee cup.
Vastness Glen Eria Artist's Society 1st Prize People's Choice - 2023 "Vastness" was inspired by a painting by Arthur Streeton that captured the panorama of hills and valleys. I focused on the bottom left corner of his painting rather than the whole. In my painting, I wanted to capture the same sense of depth. I used the harmony of purples and yellow to create a sense of space. A clash of blue contrast is used to further draw the viewer into the painting.
"Deconstructed" Melbourne Society for Women Painters and Sculptors Highly Commended -2024 "Deconstructed" is part of a series of paintings utlizing the image of a dismembered Barbie Doll. The painting is to highlight the problem of violence against Women
